Customising Blogger templates: Only the Strong Survive

I should've been satisfied with one of the numerous templates on offer, but no, I had to go One Louder. Found another template option, began tweaking, and this is where the storm-clouds started gathering and I began hearing voices...voices that urged me to tweak, meddle, interfere, and generally fart about, endlessly.
Whatever the case, I've decided to stop for the time being, and just get the thing Out There...it still ain't looking right, but what the hell...uhhh...those voices again.
One thing though, before I press 'Publish Post'...maybe one of you Blognerds out there can tell me why the header displays perfectly well in Firefox, but has it's ends cut off in IE...?
Ok, I'm definitely gonna push the button now.....
