August is the new October

Yeah, I know...don't mention the weather, but come on people, it hasn't stopped raining around here since this time last night. Witness the driving conditions out the road to Chez Sonique earlier this evening. As far as the Summer goes, I want my money back.

Poor ol' SBBQ2 is sitting in a corner of the kitchen here next to a couple of fold-up ASDA chairs, one of those really tiny bottles of Stella Artois and an un-opened box of firelighters. And he was doing so well too.

Anyhoo, some news for the Hip Hop Massive Worldwide.
The good people at GW Tomorrow's World have sent me an MP3 of Devastatin' Dave's Zip Zap Rap (see previous post). I've only had time to FFWD through it's full 6 minutes or so, but it's evidently a forcefully delivered 'Say No to Drugs' excursion from back in the day. (Whatever happened to the Anti-Drugs Song? I personally haven't heard of one since Grange Hill Comprehensive implored the nation's youth to Just Say No).

As I'm not too sure at this point how to upload an MP3 to the Sonic Blog, (and I'm a little too relaxed to be bothered learning how at present) I can't play you said file.
In any case, I'm uncertain whether or not Devastatin' would approve of this move... and he's not at home right now so I can't check. Suffice it to say, (and I don't think he'd mind me putting it like this), the track sounds like the pic.... looks, if you know what I mean. You'll have to take my word for this...at least for the time being.

Interestingly, I've just Googled his name and am surprised to find a healthy body of info out there concerning the man and his work. Plus a good few folks seem to be ripping his name off - in Myspace particularly, there's an awful lot of Turntable Slavery at large. I gotta say it kids, I agree - that name is pure gold...and I wish I'd thought of it. Mind you, my name isn't Dave, so a certain amount of re-invention, maybe too much, would be in order. Come to think of it, my name isn't Sonic Avenger either, but let's not digress.

I've also seen at least one reference to D-D the Cyberslave out there. Maybe this is/was an attempt to move into the Sleazy Gutter Electro department of Rap's Rich Tapestry, I dunno, but it certainly adds to the enigma.

Whatever the case, I'm hoping to bump into the man himself over the weekend and clear up one or two nagging questions I have. Like, how can someone who has clearly made some proper records (with full-colour sleeves) in proper studios an' such, not be at least be moderately rich?
This and other mysteries I hope to have answers to in the very near future.
