Listening to: Linedancers On Acid - I'm Back Baby
Back from Roma Blog-Children. Lots of sun, culture, history, statues, ruins and art along with some quite heroic eating and gladiatorial drinking on my part. East Midlands airport is not for the faint-hearted though it must be said, especially on the return journey when my chosen apparel of shorts and sonic-sandals clashed severely with the high winds and driving drizzle. Anyhoo, here's a few pics from over the weekend.

Listening to: Grinderman - Go Tell The Women
Alas dear reader, despite Tony Blair announcing his resignation date (47 days and counting) much more important matters are occurring closer to (my) home. At midnight tonight, a 4-horsedrawn carriage will pull up outside Chéz Sonique, and by thus means shall I be spirited away under cover of darkness, Caravaggio-like, to a nearby harbour, to a waiting sea-vessel, thence across the water to the ancient throbbing heart of Empire & Culture, Rome. Yes pop-kids, I'm hauling my sweet little sonic ass over to the high-heeled boot of mainland Europe for the weekend. There I shall eat, drink and be excruciatingly elegant. Expect photos. Expect Glammer. Expect less than flattering pix of me on the hotel balcony in my underpants clutching a jug of vino rosso, posted for all to see on Perez Hilton's scurrilous website. Above all though, expect me to Do It Classy. Ciao for now.

Listening to: Armando - Land of Confusion
Today is Polling Day in Cruel Britannia. For overseas readers, this is when concerned citizens all over this sceptered isle retreat to a crudely-fashioned makeshift bunker and, clutching a 2-inch pencil (provided), huddle 'twixt chipboard partitions and furtively scrawl an X next to the political party of their choice. Or not, depending on how bothered said citizens are at the time. Well, it's now a quarter to midnight, and the votes still aren't counted. As I have to be up at 6am in the morning, I shall retire to bed not knowing if I am to arise to a Brave New World or not. One thing seems certain though: Nu-Labour are in for some kind of a hammering. Tomorrow will reveal all.
